Tejas Dance presents an evening of Odissi and Bharatanatyam performances, KALPANA – The world of imagination, by award-winning dancer Bijayini Satpathy and SHIVALAYA – A thematic production on Lord Shiva and his Abode by Tejas Dance, performed by Bhuvana Venkatraman & Chintan Patel.
BIJAYINI SATPATHY, has been recognized for her path-breaking transformations of classical technique through her novel interpretations of Odissi’s movement vocabulary. Satpathy, In the US premiere of KALPANA weaves together narrative and non-narrative imagery in an evening of Odissi. Building into a cathartic crescendo where the actor and character, emotion and experience, subject and object dissolve. Becoming one and the same in a palpable space beyond the self.
SHIVALAYA – Through a spiritual journey of a Bhakta (devotee) through the Shiva temple, we explore the Ancient temple architecture of south India, as we draw parallels with the physical and spiritual Chakras of the body. It is a journey towards inner realization, beyond the physical world and its differences.
